Mardi Gras Columbia
Saturday, February 25th
As Grassroots as they come, Mardi Gras Columbia is a festival without a merchants association or even a single penny in H-Tax behind it. Instead its self-funded (just like Trump’s campaign, y’all) by Krewe de ColumbiYa-Ya, presenting Mardi Gras at City Roots since 2009. It’s the only community event in town that features a 5K you can run with your dog. It also features a swell tractor-led parade through Rosewood.
This year’s beneficiary is Congaree Riverkeeper. So, gulp down an Abita or five… and enjoy up to 37 bands while helping to protect and improve the water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreation of Columbia’s amazing river system. It’s free to get in. Commemorative cups will be available for monetary donations and there will be plenty of brew on hand to swill from said cups.
Get interested or tell your friends you’re going on the Mardi Gras Facebook event page.
